Jennifer Hall

Founder & President

After graduating cum-laude from the University of Houston, Jennifer Hall founded and ran a profitable commercial photography business specializing in annual reports and editorial work for more than 8 years. As a photographer, she contributed to Forbes, Fortune, Business Week, Newsweek, CIO, CEO, Town & Country and many other publications. On the corporate side, she worked for Greyhound Bus, Coach USA, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Exxon Credit Card Services, Chevron Chemicals, Shell, Enron, Apache, Global Marine, Miller Lite, Merck and more. Towards the end of 1999 Jennifer started digitizing her images and selling them on the web. It was not long before her corporate clients requested her to develop systems to archive their photos resulting in her second company, Secure Digital Assets (SDA). Since 2000, Jennifer has been creating new digital asset management services including the archiving of digital photography, video and graphic files. The idea to archive digital media online came from her experience at Fotofest, an internationally recognized photography exhibition in Houston where she spearheaded the research and development of Fotofest’s Kodak Digital CD Library funded by Kodak in the early 1990’s. Jennifer worked directly with the founders of FotoFest, Wendy Watriss and Fred Baldwin, to catalog the organization’s library of images and convert them into a CD library. Her in-depth knowledge of the creative process, as well as how assets are used in commercial, corporate and editorial venues is invaluable to the team at SDA. She says “one of the things I enjoy most about what I do is the opportunity to take a vision, put it into practice and see real benefits realized by our clients.”

Darren Costa

VP of Technology

With over 15 years of experience working with database and web-based technologies, Darren has developed a great depth of knowledge of how enterprise systems should be designed, implemented and maintained. After graduating from Humboldt State University of California with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Darren began his career in the medical industry, developing and maintaining database systems used for archiving medical records in over 50 hospitals in the northern California region. Following his initial success in medical record archiving, he moved into developing systems for storing medical related images, utilizing the most up-to-date technologies for scanning, database storage and retrieval. Darren was soon recruited by Kaiser Permanente of California to work with a team of developers to design a web-based medical records system to enable hospitals within the Kaiser Permanente network to share digital assets. He then joined a small start-up company in the Silicon Valley and helped build it into a successful software company that developed web-based applications to track resources related to digital based hardware, such as plotters, scanners and multi-function devices. Darren brings a wealth of experience to the Secure Digital Assets team and is always striving to provide the advanced and reliable systems our customers have come to expect.
